Spencer "Skip" Banbridge was a good man with a long and distinguished career in Confed. He served in Special Operations together with his best friend Winston Turner. During this time, he became part of Marine Commando Six, an elite fighting unit led by Turner, which saved a planet from a terrorist biological attack at the expense of five-sixths of the unit. Both Turner and Banbridge were awarded with Fleet Crosses for their heroism during this classified operation.

Banbridge continued to rise, and by 2654 he was an Admiral and the Commander-In-Chief of the Terran Confederation Fleet. Ever the diligent soldier, he authorised the covert intelligence operation to Gar's Emporium to discover Kilrathi Imperial intentions, an operation which confirmed the Empire's planned attack on McAuliffe. Fourteen years later, as head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, he helped engineer a classified military operation that would later be known as Operation Back Lash. When the False Peace was announced, Banbridge authorised the intelligence operation to discover the Hari fleet.

Admiral Banbridge was killed in 2668 during the suicide bomb attack by the Kilrathi ambassador to Earth.
