Jason Bondarevsky joined the Confederation Space Forces when he was sixteen, forging his birth certificate to get recruited, one week after the death of his father in the war. By the time he was 25, he was a Lieutenant Commander and Commander Flight Group for the TCS Tarawa, the first of Confed's CVE-class light escort carriers. When Commodore O'Brian was killed during Operation Back Lash, Bondarevsky took command of the Tarawa, making him the first captain ever to reach Kilrah and return.

But the road that Bondarevsky travelled was not always a smooth one. Just about the time he graduated from flight school, his only brother Joshua was killed in the Marines during the defence of Khosan. He was assigned to the TCS Gettysburg under Commodore Cain, and ended up in the middle of the mutiny following Commodore Cain's illegal order to fire on Kilrathi civilians. This in itself could have ended his career, unofficially if not officially. Fortunately he was cleared of all charges, even joining Colonel Blair and Colonel Ralgha in the defence of Olympus Station, and given a second chance by Admiral Tolwyn. With the large amount of casualties over the following year, coupled with his own talent and ability, Bondarevsky rose rapidly through the ranks to Lieutenant Commander in 2668. As the CFG for the Tarawa, he was present at both the taking of Vukar Tag and the raid on Kilrah. He was awarded the Medal of Honour for Operation Back Lash, and became forever connected with the holovid "First To Kilrah", much to his embarassment. Bondarevsky remained captain of the Tarawa during the following months, commanding her for the covert mission during the False Peace, and at the Battle of Landreich and the Battle of Earth. Following that, his command was transferred to a destroyer squadron, with the TCS Conventry as flagship, assigned as escort for the TCS Victory. The Coventry was badly hit when the Kilrathi attacked and destroyed the Behemoth, and Bondarevsky suffered multiple injuries during the battle. He was sent to Moonbase Tycho for treatment, where he remained until the war ended with the bombing of Kilrah; his right arm had to be amputated due to his injuries, and replaced by a synthetic prosthetic. With the decommissioning of the Confederation fleet, Bondarevsky put in for retirement, with a courtesy promotion to Commodore and half-pay pension. That was until he was enlisted by Admiral Tolwyn and Admiral Richards to once more join the Landreich forces to fend off a possible Kilrathi invasion force. Together, they managed to salvage the former KIS Karga, in time to stand against Ukar dai Ragark and his fleet. Despite facing a superior foe, the Landreich forces managed to prevail, and the Kilrathi fleet was destroyed at Baka Kar. With the conclusion of this engagement, Captain Jason Bondarevsky remained with the Landreich Navy as Commander Flight Group for the FRLS Mjollnir.
