Hunter was an interesting one. Considered the maverick of the Claw's flight roster, he was always doing stupid things. Take the time he tried to land his craft without the ALS (Auto Landing System) and put himself in the infirmary. Or the infinite times he flew right into my stream of cannon fire. But for all these antics, his much-chewed-on cigar was a welcome sight.Captain St. John was one of the best pilots on the Tiger's Claw and in the Space Forces, who flew with enough recklessness to be considered a loose cannon while still remaining responsible. A true blue Aussie from Brisbane, he was rarely seen without a cigar in his mouth or a drink in hand. A veteran of the Vega Campaign, Operation Thor's Hammer, and the Firekkan Crusade, he not only destroyed the Kilrathi Starbase in Venice with Major Blair, but also participated in the rescue of the Firekkan hostages from Ghorah Khar, and in the intelligence-gathering operation to discover the Hari fleet.

Captain Ian St. John had the distinction of being the only human ever to become the liege-lord of a Kilrathi. This occurred during the Firekkan Crusade, when the KIS Ras'Nik'hra and her Khantahr Ralgha nar Hhallas defected to the Confederation. As a gesture of goodwill, Khantahr nar Hhallas transferred fealty of his loyal retainer, Kirha hrai Ralgha nar Hhallas, to Captain St. John. It was with Kirha's help that Captain St. John and Major Taggart were able to effect the rescue of the Firekkan hostages.

St. John continued his assignment on board the Tiger's Claw, but was transferred off for a two week leave the day before the grand old dame's untimely demise. He continued flying, and eventually became commander of the TCS Concordia's Broadsword squadron in 2668. Later that year, he was killed during the in action. He acted as a decoy, drawing off Kilrathi fire so as to allow Colonel Taggart to escape in the Bannockburn, with the irrefutable proof of the Hari fleet's existence. He left behind his parents and grandmother; his younger brother was killed in the Marine assault on Firekka, and St. John himself never married.
